Villarreal are interested in New York Red Bulls striker Jozy Altidore.

AS says Villarreal have already made an approach to MLS and New York officials about Altidore's availability ahead of the summer market.

Real Madrid made tentative enquiries in January about 19 year-old Altidore, who along with Benfica's Freddy Adu, is regarded as the USA's big new hope.
