Villarreal fullback Moreno: I'm happy for Setien; the players had initial doubts

Villarreal fullback Alberto Moreno says the players are enjoying the management of Quique Setien.

Having replaced Unai Emery after his departure for Aston Villa, Setien endured a slow start before the World Cup recess.

However, the Yellow Submarine are now flying and defeated Real Madrid on the weekend.

Moreno said, "It was a tough change, we had been with Unai for two years and the team could already go out onto the field blindfolded that they knew how to play. It was a big change for the dressing room, for the club and everyone.

"Quique came with another idea, but the players had to adapt and try to be positive. With a lot of work and a lot of insistence on his part, this was already reflected against Madrid and in previous games. Now it's about being consistent and continuing to win.

"In the faces of the players there could be doubts at the beginning, and to think that how it was going to turn out if we were used to something else. It has lasted a month of long work because this idea has to be worked on a lot. It has been very heavy for this to come out.

"I'm very happy for him because at first there were doubts and he didn't seem happy, but we're going all in one direction with him and we want to continue playing that well. It's true that it was a stick for everyone because Emery didn't leave because things were bad, if not because Aston ViIla paid his clause. We were fine with him. Many of the players were left with doubts when Setién changed things. We were wondering if that would work.

"If you lose doubts come, and that's what happened. But work and insistence have made us trust him and his style. The results speak for themselves."
