Villarreal coach Setien hails Moreno for victory over Real Madrid

Villarreal coach Quique Setien was delighted with victory over Real Madrid.

Setien rated the 2-1 win the best since he took charge.

He said, "We knew how to suffer when it was our turn. We started very well. We took our game plan to the pitch. We created chances that allowed us, to a certain extent, control the game.

"We are moving forward. The reality is that there are many things that the players are understanding. We are putting players in positions they weren't used to playing in and they are doing well. As is the case with Gerard (Moreno), he used to play further back and now he occupies a more advanced position. (Francis) Coquelin and (Etienne) Capoue are understanding the position of inside players and once we get the ball out from the back, we create a lot of danger.

"I'm a man of faith. The beginnings were not easy. The reality is that it's hard to change things that are going well, but I knew it was going to work out. This squad has extraordinary quality.

"I'm not worried about the standings. We have three wins in a row, but LaLiga is very competitive. It's very likely that you'll have a bad run. The important thing is to get to the end with strength and conviction in what you're doing, and with the utmost enthusiasm. Winning or losing depends on the smallest details.

On the quality of Gerard Moreno, he added: "He is an enormous footballer, who interprets the actions very well. Every time he receives and offloads he helps us a lot. He's a player who is difficult for opponents to detect, and he also scores a lot of goals and assists."
