Villarreal coach Marcelino has admitted interest in Tottenham striker Roberto Soldado.

Soldado is up for sale at Spurs this summer.

Marcelino stated: "It's very difficult because he is with a great team that two years ago paid a substantial amount for his transfer.

"In two seasons, he's played with little regularity and may not enjoy the confidence of his team.

"It may have influenced his performance, but it is difficult for a player who has always scored.

"We want to improve our attacking options and compete for as high a place on the table as possible."
