Villarreal chief Roig admits Man Utd, Spurs target Torres could be sold

Villarreal chief Fernando Roig admits they face selling major players this summer.

Pau Torres has been linked with Manchester United and Tottenham, while Arnau Danjuma has been mentioned as a target for Liverpool.

Roig Jr told AS: "We have high salaries, we have many players in the squad, so not being in the Champions League we have a squad that we don't cover with what we generate. For this reason, the logical thing is to compensate it and that is done either with sales or by reducing salaries.

"We still have the salary limit and we could sign without problems, but we are aware the healthy thing is always to balance accounts. This club always tries to be in a balanced situation and that is what we must and are going to do

"You cannot plan what you want to sell or not, you have an idea and a plan of what is interesting, but the market is what determines what can happen. We cannot dominate the market, so it depends on the offers that arrive, that the player wants to leave and that we agree. Therefore, we do not think of selling out of necessity, but we are open to the market.

"I'm not going to talk about names, but it's logical that when it comes to the market, it's players like Danjuma or Pau, who are the ones that stand out. The two have had a very good season and have a great poster. But in this you never know, sometimes offers arrive for players that you do not expect. And Estupiñán is true that he is in a very well covered position, so we may have to attend to an offer in that demarcation."
