Tottenham must break their wage structure to sign Aston Villa winger Ashley Young.
The News of the World says Young will move a step closer to joining Tottenham this week if they can offer him an increase on his £65,000-a-week wages.
The Aston Villa winger was the subject of two failed bids from Harry Redknapp last summer and was given a £9,000-a-week rise for staying at Villa Park.
Young, 25, has now indicated that he is keen on a move to White Hart Lane but the salary he earns at the Midlands club is not far off Spurs' wage limit.
To offer a substantial rise the North London club would need to pay around £80,000-a-week which would put him on par with top earner Luka Modric.
