Aston Villa target Maxi Rodriguez's agent has alluded to a potential move to England for the player.

Arturo Canales says Rodriguez's current club, Atletico Madrid, are set to offer him a new contract but he has not ruled out a move elsewhere in Europe.

"Atletico have not yet been in touch with us, but we have a good relationship with the club," Canales told Calcio Mercato.

"As a result, I think that they will contact us at the right time.

"He is under contract with Atletico and the clubs that are interested must contact the club.

"Staying put is not dependent on the club qualifying for the Champions League.

"If he were to leave Spain, then Italy and England are both attractive leagues."
