The Daily Mail says a deal between the two clubs will be finalised today - despite Villa's claims last night that no negotiations would not be considered after Liverpool missed a 5pm deadline.

A £17.5 million plus Steve Finnan package will be accepted by Villa even though O'Neill had tried to force Liverpool into a corner by setting yesterday evening's deadline and retaining Barry's services for another year at least.
