Clark Carlisle believes new Aston Villa teammate Kyle Walker is a future England regular.
Clark played with the Tottenham-owned fullback for England youth teams before committing his international future to the Republic of Ireland.
"I think he's ready to step up yes," Clark told the Sunday Mercury. "He's from Sheffield and he moved to Tottenham so he's been training and playing with great players. I'm sure he'll be able to step in quite comfortably and confidently.
"I had met Kyle before he signed so I knew what type of player he was."
