Villa never made offer to Ferdinand

Aston Villa never made an offer to released Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

Aston Villa never made an offer to released Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.

The Express & Star says Villa did make a brief check on Ferdinand – but never offered the former England captain a contract.

Reports the 35-year-old had rejected a contract are wide of the mark as Villa did not table one.

Ferdinand, available on a free after leaving Old Trafford, is believed to prefer a move to London with QPR, managed by his former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp interested.
