Aston Villa must up their bid if they're to land Reading striker Kevin Doyle.

The Times says Villa are willing to pay £7 million for Doyle, but Reading want £8 million for the Ireland forward. Reading paid Cork City £78,000 for Doyle three years ago. However, Steve Coppell, the Reading manager, has warned other clubs that he will sell his best players only for the right price, despite the club's relegation to the Coca-Cola Championship.
