Joe Cole says he'd happily playing for nothing at Aston Villa.

The veteran is just pleased to be still in the game.

"I just love football. If I had my time again I would give everything back - all the money, the medals, the lot and start all over again.

"I mean that 100 per cent. It was never about money with me. I wouldn't want to start again with my family and all that, but the football, yes. I'd go on that journey again."

He adds: "I've never chased the money. You see it in dressing rooms where you see one of them thinking, 'He's earning a few quid more than me'. I ain't no saint, don't get me wrong, but that way of thinking is just not me.

"I've been a lucky boy in that I've been fortunate to have played in a time when the rewards have been great, but it was never the motivation."
