Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov is set to be handed a long-term contract.

Initial talks have taken place with the agent of the Bulgarian international who cost Villa £8million from Celtic in 2006.

Petrov, 29, who is under contract until next summer, will be offered a new three-year deal, says the Mirror.
