Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill has slammed Birmingham City co-owner David Sullivan for his parting shot at former manager Steve Bruce.

O'Neill said: "The current Birmingham City team is as strong as it has been for a few years.

"Steve is obviously disappointed with what transpired at Birmingham just before and after he left, and I don't think he's overly happy.

"The last thing you want to be hearing your ex-owner coming out and making comments along the lines that he's pleased you're gone. I don't think that does anyone any favours.

"Personally, I thought Steve did a terrific job, especially in winning promotion."
