Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill insists Luke Moore can still have a future at Villa Park.
O'Neill said: "There was talk about a new contract and negotiations went to and fro but Luke has decided not to take the offer on board. We had a year's option on Luke's contract and we took up that option last week - but we can still talk about contracts after that.
"Because we have taken the option up, it does not mean that during the course of this time that circumstances might change and Luke does consistently well. As things stand, Luke's contract ends in 2009 and he has the entitlement to see the contract through if that is the case and see what happens after that.
"Anything can happen. That is a long, long time in football. If people come in and are worthy of playing in this first team on merit, I would have no qualms about looking at people's contracts whoever they are."
