Villa boss McLeish hopes to buy experience this summer

Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish plans a major squad shakeup this summer.

The Mirror says Villa's former England striker Emile Heskey, 34, is set to head the exodus as he is due to be released.

McLeish admitted: "We have to freshen things up with new faces.

"You have already seen Brett Holman join the club. Players like that will add to the quality and can make the difference.

"We will definitely be turning things around. Some players inevitably leave and some will come. I am looking to try and add a few experienced players to the squad.

"I have been out working the whole season looking at other players with Peter Grant, Paul Montgomery and the scouting staff using contacts abroad.

"We have done a lot of diligence on players, it is just about picking the right ones.

"I don't think it is too appropriate to talk about players coming and going out though as I have to concentrate on these lads here and get everything out of them."
