Aston Villa boss Gerard Houllier is excited to be working with Ashley Young.
Houllier aims to sign the player on a new Villa deal and raise his profile even higher.
The ex-Liverpool chief said: "Ashley is more like a Michael Owen in what he delivers and produces.
"He doesn't play the same role as someone like Stevie Gerrard and doesn't have the same physique. He reminds more of Michael - he has an eye for the pass.
"Ashley can make goals, score goals and he can run. That's important - a modern player doesn't wait for the ball.
"It's a good challenge for me to make him improve. I'd like him to be a regular international.
"Ideally I'd like him to step up in performance, confidence, everything.
"I'd like him to sign a new contract. It's a sign of intent for the club."
