Aston Villa are targeting a shock move for Real Madrid's Marco Asensio on a free transfer.

The Spaniard is out of contract at Real and will not be renewing with the historic capital club.

Asensio only started 15 games in La Liga, with most of his appearances coming off the bench.

Having managed 15 goal contributions in 30 total games, Asensio would be valuable for most teams in the world.

Per BirminghamLive, Villa boss Unai Emery is in dialogue with Asensio about moving to Villa Park.

He believes the winger can be a key aspect of his attack in the coming season.
