Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill says captain Gareth Barry deserves his England call-up.

O'Neill said: "The most pleasing thing about it is that Gareth is being picked by England for games that matter now. He's deserved that.

"Whether he starts or not is up to Steve McClaren, but he's very strong, he's got real determination and he has got more ability than people think.

"He has great belief and won't let anyone down."
