Aston Villa's £8 million bid for West Brom defender Curtis Davies has fallen short.
The Daily Mail says the Championship club are determined to push the price up towards £10m.
One factor in driving up the price is that Albion have to hand over 30 per cent of any profit to Davies's former club Luton, whom they paid £3m two years ago.
