Veteran Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves excited to make Celta Vigo move

Veteran Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Alves is delighted signing for Celta Vigo.

The 37 year-old has joined Celta after leaving Flamengo.

He said today: “It was very fast. On Friday my agent called me asking me what I would think if there was an option to return and I told him yes, I was available. My contract with Flamengo had ended and it was very clear to me that I didn't want to continue playing in Brazil.

"I kept working to have an opportunity to play outside of Brazil and the opportunity has come to me from Celta.

“My last game was on November 14 with Flamengo. Then came the World Cup and my contract ended on December 31. I had the thought of playing outside of Brazil, I've had some offers from Brazilian teams, but I didn't want to because my goal was to return to Spain and everything turned out well.

"Physically I'm not like my teammates, who are in the middle of the season, but I kept working in Brazil. I have a house with a gym and a field and I had time to work. I am sure that soon I will be at my maximum physical level to be able to help."
