Terry Venables is a candidate for the job at Hull City.
The Sun says Tigers' chairman Adam Pearson has put former England chief Venables top of his wish-list to replace sacked Phil Brown.
Venables answered a similar crisis call at Middlesbrough nine years ago, coming in as co-boss with Bryan Robson and saving them from relegation when they had looked doomed.
A source close to Pearson last night revealed: "Adam is a big admirer of Terry's and has enormous respect for what he has achieved in the game - particularly at Boro. Tel is bound to get a call asking if he is interested in trying to pull off another rescue act.
"Adam is hoping it is the sort of challenge that will appeal to him."
