Terry Venables supports Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp in his row with Fabio Capello over Ledley King's England call-up.
"I think the King thing has been a bit of a nonsense really," Venables told Setanta. "It's not like a player maybe trying to dodge out of a game or pressure from the manager.
"This boy's been injured a long, long time and it's really unfair saying it like we've just discovered him, we've found a player who's really good.
"When we played the Croatia game we lost, it was a very important game and we were going to play him as one of three centre backs as he was very instrumental in that.
"He did training but we got to the airport and he didn't actually get on the plane because he knee came up.
"There's been times when people have said he's not going to be able to carry on, this fella, yet he's played more games this time than before and he's made a big difference to Tottenham."
