Camilo Sanvezzo has been named the MLS player of the Week for Week 17 of the 2013 season.
The Brazilian striker scored a brace and provided an assist as Vancouver Whitecaps side beat Chivas USA 3-1 late last week to move up to fifth on the Western Conference table and tenth on the overall standings.
Jordan Harvey levelled for the ‘Caps in the third minute of first half stoppage time, cancelling out Tristan Bowen’s early opener, when he latched onto Camilo’s mishit effort to fire home from just inside the area.
Just over a minute later, Camilo received a pass down the right from Russell Teibert before cutting back in on his left and slotting past Dan Kennedy’s right hand into the bottom corner.
Camilo then put Vancouver two goals ahead in the 81st minute when his deflected shot bobbled past a hapless Kennedy, giving the Canadian club a comfortable victory at BC Place.
The weekly award is the second in a row to Vancouver following Kenny Miller’s double in the 4-3 win over New England Revolution last week. It is Camilo’s second weekly award since joining the ‘Caps in 2011.
