Australia World Cup coach Bert van Marwijk says Chelsea ace Eden Hazard should've been awarded the tournament's Ballon d'Or.
Croatia midfielder Luka Modric was named the World Cup's best player, but Van Marwijk insists Belgium captain Hazard deserved the gong.
"I think Modric is also a great footballer, but I think that the award factor played a role in his election because of his age. Hazard had a bigger contribution to his team," said Van Marwijk to Voetbal International.
"The strong thing about his game is that you can always play him in. After which something good happens. Whether he has one or three opponents at his neck, whatever part of the field he is in, whether or not his team is in the game. With Hazard in your team you can always play football under pressure."
On Real Madrid rumours, Van Marwijk continued: "If he actually goes from Chelsea to Real Madrid, I am curious what will happen to Isco.
"These are the same types that can get in each other's way. Then I would choose Hazard. His influence on the game and the result is greater. He would also be a reinforcement for Barcelona. For every team actually."
