Van Gaal grateful to Man Utd away fans after Arsenal humbling

Louis van Gaal praised Manchester United's away fans after defeat at Arsenal.

The travelling Reds were vocally upbeat throughout, despite watching their team sieve three goals in the opening 20 minutes, and audibly chanted 'Louis van Gaal's Red and White Army'.

When asked if the players let the fans down and owed them thanks at the final whistle, Van Gaal replied: "No. I do that always, I do that always because the fans are there always and they are always supporting Manchester United.

"Also, today in spite of the 3-0 loss they were supporting Manchester United.

"So, I think you have to thank the fans always. And that I am doing always, not only now we have lost 3-0 we have also won away at Aston Villa away and I have to say it also but then it is more easy because they have won. Also, the players have an emotional state after the match."
