Edwin van der Sar says he sympathises for fellow Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster over his inconsistent form this season.
"I have had sympathy win Ben," Van der Sar told the Manchester Evening News.
"I am one of the goalkeeping department and you work a lot each day with each other. Of course, you always hope that everyone does well. It is the same for Ben. I want him to do well.
"He has had a couple of unlucky moments but I am sure he is going to bounce back from this.
"I had similar things when I was young. That is what makes you the man and the player you become as a goalkeeper.
"Nobody has a clear path in their career. You go up and down. We all have moments like that. You have to just make sure that the downs are not as deep as the ones you go up.
"Ben certainly has the strength of character to overcome this that he has been through. He is a very strong guy. I have no worries about him."
