Valencia midfielder Ever Banega has apologized to fans for failing a breathalyser after being caught jumping a red light in the early hours of Monday morning.

The Argentine said: "I made a mistake and I am sorry, especially because it has given a negative image of both me and the club. I apologize, in general, to all the fans, and in particular to the club.

"I just had a little (to drink), but I was wrong to drive and also to not respect the traffic lights."
