Valencia midfielder Sergio Canales has suffered a fresh knee injury.

Canales is set to be sidelined for six months after suffering his second serious knee injury of the season during Thursday night's Europa League defeat to Atletico Madrid, the club have announced.

Canales, on-loan from Real Madrid, was replaced just before the hour-mark of the semi-final second leg at the Mestalla and Valencia's medical chief Jordi Candel confirmed on Friday that he had torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
