Valencia dump Adidas for Puma kit deal

Valencia have signed a long-term kit deal with Puma, agreeing a contract with the sportswear brand to replace its German rival Adidas, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The agreement brings an end to Valencia's five-year partnership with Adidas, and reunites the La Liga club with Puma, which previously supplied their kit between 1990 and 1993.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed although, according to a report by the Spanish news outlet Marca, the two parties were putting together a €4 million (US$4.6 million) a year deal to run until 2022. A financial commitment of that size is thought to be double the value of the club's current agreement with Adidas.

"We are proud to be the new partner of Valencia CF, a club with a great tradition that has some of the most passionate fans," said Johan Adamsson, Puma's director of sports marketing and sports licensing.

"We are excited to work with the club to deliver premium performance products and support the club in their vision for the future."

"[Puma's] bravery, innovation, and ambition the driving forces that have guided us towards success against other competitors," added Valencia chairman Anil Murthy.

"The union between tradition and trend, between a global vision for the future and that eternal sentiment that gives us the strength to never give up and always aim the highest with courage and determination runs in our DNA.

"With Puma, we'll keep growing to reach out to more fans worldwide."
