Valencia coach Rino Gattuso admits they need to sign a new central midfielder this month.

Los Che have lost on-loan Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez for two months with a foot fracture.

Gattuso said, “He has to be operated on in Barcelona. He will be out for three months. We have to sign a profile like Nico because we only have (Hugo) Guillamón in that position.

"We have to see the money we have. I would like to sign an experienced pivot to help the whole team but I also have to listen to the club because we have to respect the Financial Fair Play."

Valencia are being linked with Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez.

And Gattuso said: Nández: “We have spoken with his representative. We have to find a solution."
