Valencia coach Ruben Baraja was left delighted with victory over Atletico Madrid.

Los Che outclassed Atletico 3-0 on the day.

Baraja later said: "We had the hope of competing well and playing a good game. Everything has been helping us. Scoring a goal early has given us confidence and we have played a very complete game, to beat an entire Atlético team you have to do many things very well. We had to do many things well and now enjoy the result and continue working.

"These games, if you have the attitude, you may have some options, but if they are at their level it is very difficult. We have had the attitude, the energy, the rhythm that the game needed. And I am very happy because with 19 or 20 year old players this is very important, it is very important."

He added: "The first half was very good, but we knew that to have a chance in the game we had to be at a high level, try to make them feel uncomfortable and set the pace. All things have happened for the better, because we came in strong and it was 1-0 and when you make it 2-0, well the first half is complete in every sense.

"After the break we had the risk of scoring a goal right away and we had doubts. But we started well and the third goal gave us peace of mind. It is a day to be happy with how the boys have performed, because those who left could have done so on a stretcher because they were exhausted. Three important points for continuity."
