Valencia captain Jose Luis Gaya insists their 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano is a positive point.
Valencia are now out of the dropzone on goal difference.
Gaya said: "We wanted to win. We didn't want to draw here at home with the dynamic that we had from two consecutive wins. I think we did enough to win. In the end, we didn't get the victory and we leave here sad. We wanted to put together three wins in a row at home, at Mestalla, in front of our fans, who almost pushed us to victory.
"It wasn't to be, but the dedication and the fight that we have shown I think is the way forward. We moved out of the relegation zone, but we know that it is a long fight and we have to motivated to move further away.
"There are 11 games left and we have to give everything to get out of the situation. Today we did the job we had to do, but they went ahead and that penalised us. The team has pushed and gave our all. We have achieved a draw that, for us, is insufficient, but that takes us out of the bottom three for now."
