Jorge Valdano was in France last week, it has been revealed. AS says French sources suggest Valdano, who will be Florentino Perez's general manager should he win the Real Madrid election, met with the agents of Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery and also Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

There are also reports that Perez, himself, has spoken with Wenger about taking the coaching job next season - a meeting that left the Real candidate optimistic about signing the Frenchman.

And yesterday, Wenger told Telefoot: "The project of Florentino Perez would be attractive to any coach."
