USA take a step closer to Brazil 2014 with narrow win over Honduras

USA have given themselves every conceivable chance of booking its ticket to the 2014 World Cup by beating Honduras 1-0 in a CONCACAF qualifier.

Juergen Klinsmann's side edged Los Catrachos in a hard-fought encounter at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah which came courtesy of Jozy Altidore's 73rd minute goal.

The AZ Alkmaar striker netted his fourth goal in his last four international appearances when he slotted home Fabian Johnson's low cross from the left after he had been set up by Graham Zusi.

The win allows the US to move to 13 points from six hexagonal group outings, five clear of second-placed Costa Rica, who are currently hosting fifth-placed Panama.
