The USA, Mexico and Canada have submitted a joint bid to host the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
They will however face competition from African nation Morocco to host the event.
The two bids were submitted before the Thursday, November 30th deadline.
The next stage will involve submitting candidacy dossiers on March 16 before a final decision will be made by Fifa on 13th June.
The host of the 2026 World Cup will be decided by all 211 national federations rather than by the smaller executive committee.
Fifa revamped the decision making process following the departure of controversial former president Sepp Blatter.
Russia will host the World Cup next year while Qatar will serve as hosts for the 2022 edition.
