General Motors-owned car brand Chevrolet has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the United States Soccer Federation, reports www.sportspromedia.com/ The deal designates Chevrolet as an official partner of US Soccer, the body that oversees the US men's and women's national teams, youth teams and the country's Olympic soccer entry.

Chevrolet will support various US Soccer initiatives as part of the agreement, including the One World Futbol Project which distributes balls to youth in war-stricken zones, refugee camps, disaster areas, and underprivileged communities around the world.

The agreement was brokered and finalised by Soccer United Marketing, US Soccer's commercial arm. Financial terms were not released.

"As fans well know, soccer is much more than the world's favourite sport; it's a communal experience and way of life," said Molly Peck, the director of Chevrolet advertising and sales promotions.

"Our new US Soccer partnership complements Chevrolet's global soccer footprint that includes Manchester United and One World Futbol Project sponsorships.

"By bringing our customers closer to these initiatives, we'll share the love of soccer all over the world." US Soccer president Sunil Gulati added: "Chevrolet has an impressive history as a global brand and we're excited to begin this partnership. We are looking forward to working closely with such a committed and supportive company across all of our national teams, especially our youth national teams and development academy." Chevrolet joins a US Soccer sponsorship portfolio that includes the likes of Budweiser, Continental, Allstate, AT&T, Castrol, Nike and McDonald's, among others.
