Uruguayan Cavani to spurn Premier League for Serie A

Uruguayan international Edinson Cavani has insisted he would rather stay in Italy then move to England. Tottenham are understood to have made a move to land both Cavani and Palermo team-mate Simon Kjaer.

However, Cavani - who is currently starring for his country at the World Cup finals, admits he would not be open to the idea of moving to White Hart Lane.

Cavani feels that Palermo president Maurizio Zamparin would rather he switch to England - but that is not what he wants.

"If I had to go away from Palermo I'd still continue to play in Serie A," he told Tuttosport.

"I know that Zamparini sees me in England, but I want to stay in Italy."
