Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira's move to Fiorentina collapsed over their attempt to talk down his valuation.

TMW says Fiorentina's offer of €7m instead of the €15m originally agreed to make his loan permanent was rejected by Arsenal. Torreira's agent also was stunned by Fiorentina's attempt.

There had been rumours of a row with coach Vincenzo Italiano, but it's reported the relationship with the coach wasn't to blame for the deal falling through.

Instead, it was Fiorentina's attempt to dramatically slash the agreed price that saw Arsenal refuse to do business.

For the moment, Torreira is set to start preseason with the Gunners.
