Uncovered: How Lazio nicked Luka Romero away from Real Mallorca

Lazio will cough up €200,000 to sign Real Mallorca superkid Luka Romero.

Romero has agreed a five-year contract after rejecting new terms offered by Mallorca.

Marca says Mallorca's offer and the career plan they had devised for Romero left his family unimpressed. In contrast, Lazio's deal will be far superior and he has also been assured of a place in Maurizio Sarri's senior squad.

Further upsetting Romero's family was Mallorca's offer included a clause which would see his deal reduced by 50 per cent if they were relegated this season.

The 16 year-old is set to begin training with Sarri's squad this week.

Two seasons ago with Mallorca in the LaLiga, Romero - at 15 years and 219 days - became the youngest player to ever play a professional match in the Spanish top-flight. Last season in the Segunda Divison, Romero was restricted to eight appearances, scoring once.
