Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia has avoided serious injury after being involved in a major car accident.

Benatia was driving through Tagnacco, near to the Stadio Friuli, at around 12.00 UK time.

He lost control of his Audi TT due to the wet conditions in the rain and spun round into the opposite lane, crashing into a vehicle coming in the other direction.

The car ended its journey against a lamp-post, but fortunately 24-year-old Benatia and those in the other vehicle were unhurt.
