This week saw the culmination of the second legs of the Capital One Cup semi-finals, played at Anfield and Etihad Stadium respectively.
On Tuesday night, Liverpool edged past Stoke City 6-5 on penalties after it finished 1-1 after 180 minutes of regular time plus 30 minutes of extra-time.
The Reds are now into a record 12th final as they chase their ninth League Cup, but in between them and further silverware is Manchester City who came from behind to beat Liverpool's Merseyside rivals Everton.
City won 3-1 in the second leg after going a goal down, having trailed 2-1 following the Toffees' home victory in the initial bout, and will now be looking for their fourth League Cup in what will be their fifth final.
