FC Twente striker Luuk de Jong has already done a personal scouting trip of suitors Newcastle United.

The Evening Chronicle says the 21-year-old visited Tyneside last season to take in a game and get a feel for the city as part of his own personal fact-finding mission.

It is believed that De Jong also took in a couple of mini breaks by visiting a clutch of the other clubs linked with him in the last six months.

But he was mightily impressed by the short hop from Holland to Tyneside.
