TRIBAL TRENDS - TRANSFERS: Why Kane won't join Man Utd; Thiago eyes Barcelona return; Draxler drops Arsenal hint;

With the amount of rumours swirling around at this time of year, even after the summer transfer window, it is sometimes difficult to decipher the truth.

These are matters of importance.

With all the transfer talk now directed at the January winter market, there are still enormous amounts of speculation swirling around Europe and the UK.

Not to worry however, because here at Tribalfootball, we have broken down the week's hottest transfer rumours, and inform you whether you should believe the paper talk or not.

Barcelona

Players interested in: Juan Mata, Ander Herrera (Manchester United)

Diario Golclaims that Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has identified two possible replacements for Andre Gomes - Juan Mata and Ander Herrera.

The diminutive duo, plying their trade for Manchester United, are both Spanish natives. The lure of returning home, and joining one of the world's biggest clubs, would surely make them think twice when reading this in the paper.

While Mata has played significantly this season, Herrera, on the other hand, has started just two out of United's eight Premier League matches.

This is surprising when you consider the 28-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho's favourites last season. Maybe there is some angst between coach and player?

Regardless, Gomes is certainly on the outer at Barca and it seems more likely that Herrera would replace himthan Mata.

Likelihood: Mata stays

Harry Kane - Tottenham

Clubs Interested: Real Madrid, Manchester United

Firstly, let me just say, there is no way Harry Kane would join Manchester United. There is more chance of hell freezing over.

But TheSunsays otherwise. Apparently, Jose Mourinho has given the green light for United to offer £170m for the Tottenham striker.

Here's why it won't happen.

Kane has been at Tottenham since he was 11. He has constantly reiterated his love and loyalty for the club. Mauricio Pochettino recently said he sees Kane becoming Spurs' Francesco Totti and to be honest so do I, he just seems that type of fella.

And even still, he could surpass United with his current Spurs side - maybe with the help of another couple of players.

Well, what if Spurs don't surpass United, you ask? What if he becomes starved of success?

That's where Real Madrid come in. And as they say, you don't say no to Real Madrid.

Likelihood: Sun and sangria over a fish supper

Anthony Martial - Manchester United

Clubs Interested In: Barcelona

Last week it was Arsenal, this week it is Barcelona.

Anthony Martial's name is certainly getting about in the press. Is his agent telling us something? Is he unhappy being in a rotation with Marcus Rashford?

I spoke about this last week, the Manchester United winger has looked like a different man this season. But he may feel he isn't getting his due reward by constantly being sat on the pine.

According to Diario Gol, Mourinho has asked for Ivan Rakitic in exchange for Martial.

Hmmm. What do you think about this United fans? Fair?

Rakitic, 29, is a lovely player to watch. An elegant passer, with the ability to score goals. Sure, he is a midfielder who could benefit United, hell, he could benefit any side.

But at 21, with his frightening pace and quick feet, there is something in Martial that screams: don't sell me now or you're going to regret it!

Likelihood: HOLD ON!

Julian Draxler- PSG

Clubs Interested In: Arsenal

While deducing transfer speculation from social media is near enough pointless, when it involves Julian Draxler, it might hold some merit.

The PSG winger is being kept happy in the French capital - for now.

But how long till he wants to be the man again? The man that PSG signed him to be.

We all know the ego's footballers possess and Draxler's surely must have been bruised when Neymar and Mbappe walked through the door at training.

This transfer is more about when than if.

Oh. And he posted a photo of Sean Kolasinac's Arsenal jersey - they were teammates at Schalke - that the Bosnian sent him.

Likelihood: Just look at the clock

Thiago Alcantara - Bayern Munich

Clubs Interested In: Barcelona

The prodigal son wants to return home, according to Don Balon.

That's how Barcelona must have reacted to the news Thiago Alcantara wants to leave Bayern Munich.

Pep Guardiola told Bayern when he left Barca and joined the club in 2013 that Thiago was the only player he wanted. 'It'll be him or no one' was his words.

There was a reason for that - he's an exceptional footballer.

But now the 26-year-old wants to return to Catalonia and some would say, fulfil his destiny as the successor of Andreas Iniesta.

I may be feeling romantic today but doesn't this just feel right?

Likelihood: Come on Bayern, warm our hearts!
