Reading left-back Ian Harte confirmed recently on Twitter that he had not retired from international football.
The 35-year old former Leeds United star has not played for the Republic of Ireland since 2007 and claims that manager Giovanni Trapattoni didn't know he was actually Irish.
He Tweeted: "To all the people asking if I have retired from international football.no I haven't trap didn't even know I was Irish #whataclown."
But at the press conference ahead of Wednesday night's Dublin friendly with Poland, Trapattoni responded with: "I know him, I have seen many games. Two years ago, I said he was too old."
