Tottenham are offering to double Gareth Bale's wages to keep him away from Manchester United.
The Daily Express says Tottenham are desperate not to lose Bale ahead of the upcoming campaign, and are preparing to double his wages to around £150,000 a week to keep him at White Hart Lane.
Spurs chief Daniel Levy has so far resisted Madrid's efforts to sign Bale, having told the La Liga giants it would take an offer of over £80m to force a sale.
But United could spark a bidding war with an opening gambit of £60m, as the Premier League champions look to bolster their squad with a marquee signing.
