Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente has hopes of Kepa Arrizabalaga staying with Athletic Bilbao.
The Spain goalkeeper is expected to sign for Real Madrid this month, though coach Zinedine Zidane has offered little enthusiasm over his arrival.
Llorente, a former Bilbao striker, told El Larguero: "The philosophy of Athletic is very clear and to stay big we have to try to keep the great players, but all players have ambitions, I hope they succeed in their decision.
"I don't know how Zidane's words can affect him.
"If he wants to leave Athletic, it would have been better for him to leave now."
Llorente, experienced a similar situation when he left Athletic to join Juventus, "It was complicated, but that does not mean it has to be complicated for everyone, so that he can decide what is best for his future.
"Kepa will surely be the goalkeeper of the National Team because he has a huge talent. It has long been seen that he was going to be a great goalkeeper."
