Tottenham's Bentley unlikely to make MK Dons switch

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson admits there is only a remote chance of persuading Tottenham's David Bentley to drop down into League One. The former Arsenal trainee, who joined Tottenham from Blackburn in a £15million deal in the summer of 2008, found first-team opportunities in short supply at White Hart Lane under then-manager Harry Redknapp over the last two campaigns and has not played for Spurs since November 2010.

"I'd love to take Bents, but the chairman says I'm not allowed," joked Robinson on Talksport.

"David Bentley is a good friend of mine, he's someone I know well from Blackburn and we have the same agent.

"It's a deal I'd love to try and make happen but David Bentley has got tremendous quality and I'd be very, very surprised to see him playing outside of the Premier League."
