Rebuilding Tottenham are ready to up their bid for Brazil and Olympique Lyonnais hitman Fred, according to the player's agent Rodrigo, also his brother.
Frederico Chaves Guedes, known throughout the footballing world as Fred, has had a more successful Selecao career than his stint with Ligue 1 giants OL.
Still, the Stade Gerland outfit are reportedly holding out for £9.5 million for the striker, who has a year-and-a-half to run on his current contract.
Spurs have already been rebuffed in their attempts to sign the player, as have Paul le Guen's Paris St Germain, but Rodrigo hinted that the Premiership side are in pole position.
Rodrigo told L'Equipe: "Yes, we are meeting with Damien Comolli, Spurs' sporting director.
"He is coming with a new offer. If it is good, Fred will sign for Tottenham."
