Tottenham are ready to upgrade Luka Modric's contract. The London Evening Standard says Spurs are prepared to break their wage structure to make the Croatia international their first £100,000-a-week player and disclosed the following month that talks were under way.
Terms have now been agreed for a contract to be signed at the end of the season, although there are a number of performance incentives included to take his current £60,000-a-week salary to the six-figure barrier.
There is an understanding that Modric will only net the most lucrative deal if Spurs finish in the top four.
Even if Tottenham fail to qualify for the Champions League, they remain determined to keep him and it will take a bid in excess of £45million for the club to even begin considering it.
